    The Anti Fattie thread

Right, following on from the Fatties thread. Who else is gonna join me in losing the excess weight?
I weighed in at 12.3 this morning.
I want to get down to at least 11st.
    Thanks Abbe89 and your kite-kit

Ha, ha, I was about to charge in there to defend us fat people.

Yep, I could probably lose a pound or two, if only because ladies wetsuit/harness sizing doesn't really consider those with generous proportions.

I'm not going to post my weight as it's right up there in porker territory, however, I will contribute. It's probably best to do a weekly weigh-in?

Hmmm I have been trying to get back to the 13.5st, that I was as a teenager, right up until I hit 40! Bloody middle aged spread!! Now I weigh in at around 15st but am definitely trying to lose a stone at least.

Real reason is that it will allow me to fly in lower winds again if I can. Thats my reason and I am stickin to it

Seriously keep the podge on. Im slim, in shape and toned, I constantly get chatted up and offered sex. Its a nightmare. I truly think young women should show more self control.

If you base it on BMI (which is only a rough guide and doesn't factor in frame type), you're overweight. Your BMI is 29.

    Use >this< to check.

A healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 25.

Actually, a better way to do it is waist measurement. The waist to hip ratio is a big indicator of health. BMI is poor if you are heavily built, a lot of fit rugby players would be obese with BMI. If you have a lot of dense muscle tone too, you're heavier.

As to why, once you are not fitting your gear, life becomes expensive.

Yeah, BMI is only a rough guide and I did mention the thing about build. But athletes are different, and as you say, different sports make for different builds. But for most people, BMI is a good rough indicator. Anyway, you just know when you're fat, you don't need numbers or measures or anything.

Well I'm 3st overweight as the nice doctor at the hospital pointed out to me the other day, what the fuck did he expect? first I've had a course of high strength steroids (which didn't work) and now the new pills make me hungry all the time (along with a long list of other side effects). May have to take these suckers for upto 2 years

    Very true on all points.

My thing with BMI is that I'm pretty short with a big build, so even if I lose weight, I don't get the reading my tall OH can achieve.
