If you mean 'their ties look ace, done up the thin side out' then please, we were wearing ties like that nearly 30 years ago, and I'm sure school kids were doing it 30 years previous to that. Fashions come and go, nothing's really new these days.
As for Waterloo Rd, I have never seen it and never wish too.

Are you a troll? You seem to post about this tie thing every few months. It's odd.

Why not talk about kites? Just an idea...

FYI: I've placed a ban on Acechav's profile for a month. Let's see if he's a bot or not and sends me a message in order to ask for more info on his ban. But looking at his post history, he does have a thing with ties worn the wrong way around. :s

Recently added to the bag: 5.5m & 6.5m PKD Century

FOR SALE: 12m Flexifoil Firestorm k/o, never used 16m RRD Type HiR RTF. PM your offer.

Mmmmmh! a tie fetish ---- fascinating.

I had to wear a tie all through my school years & even continued during my early working years. My old company (American multinational)had a dress code where we were allowed a casual day on Fridays, which meant it wasn't obligatory to wear a tie on that day. I don't ever remember anyone wearing a tie with the thin side at the front except for a laugh once in a while.
I do remember people frequently wearing gaudy ties that wouldn't match their shirt or suit. This lack of dress sense was particularly prominent in England.
I still wear a black tie to funerals that I suppose is more traditional rather than a mark of respect.
I kind of like bow ties but only ever wore them them at fancy balls etc. I used the bow ties on elastic because I have never learnt how to tie a proper bow tie.

It might be fun to subscribers to post pics of their most gaudy tie and indicate when they wore it & for what occasion.
