    Kite eqiptment insurance advice please

I have just found that my contents insurance does not cover my kite gear while locked in my van.

My insurance covers personal possesions away from the home but excludes sports equiptment. (crap eh!!)

Where can i get my gear covered for theft from my van (locked).

Depending on what gear you carry, probavly best to get it insured individually anyway, so you are covered if it goes missing off the beach or the field etc. I really need to sort mine out too.

Do you mean house and contents insurance by lloyds cover them or do they do a seperate policy for sports gear?

home contents insurance, if you want ill get someone to call you at a time suited to you if you want or call 08453000000 but the insurance team are closed now. ignore the automated system unless you have an account just press the hash key a few times and say no when they ask if you have an account lol

Most home insurance policys will only cover possessions in a car up to a total £1000.
Mainly because car crim is so high

Be careful with it being on your contents insurance. I am with privelige insurance and i phoned them when my renewel was up and i was told that my kite gear was insured on my contents insurance under (personal possesions)to the value of £3000. Great i thought until yesterday when i spoke with a different advisor who told me that i was not insured for "sporting equiptment" eg.surf boards, kites etc.

I would urge people to get there kit itemised on the contents insurance to ensure they are covered. All i had was "word of mouth" information which turned out to be incorrect anyway.Seems advisors will be happy to miss out the bits you don't want to hear just to make commision on the policy they sell you.

I renewed my contents insurance with NFU Mutual. Even had them contact the underwriters to check that kite equipment was covered.

Pay an extra premium but have up to £3500 covered as long as its in the secure boot and force required to nick it. Nothing itemised but there is that option, Ive just taken photos in my back garden off all equipment I have so can prove that I did possess it

Went into lloyds today and got them to do my house and contents insurance. They phoned the underwriters to confirm all my kites and gear are insured.
They put in the notes of my accounts i hold with them and also they will be listed on my policy paperwork which is reassuring.

All my gear is insured weather at home or locked in my van or on the beach (but not in use/flying) for a max of £5000 (single item value of £3000).

    That will do nicely.

    Thanks all.

Are there any compaines apart from home contents insurance that will cover your equipment, which I would be able to take out as a seperate policy?

no problem ady, lloyds are very good with insurance as well. they very rarely quibble over paying out just keep an eye open come renewal time as they may put their price up, if so get a price match quote from somewhere else and then go back to lloyds and see what they have to say.

On the ins side of things, our house ins is due.
But does anybody know what I can do about the buggies? As both are custom race buggies, to replace from a shop the nearest would be the Libre Protask S/S, which is about £2100 (there's 2 of them!!) or maybe Apexx's.
There kept permantly locked up on the trailer.
Then there's the 14 kites (with another set on order very soon).
4 decent helmets, 2 harness's, 2 drysuits etc etc etc etc etc
So the cost to replace new would be loads
    any idea's?
