Sdem to remember a thread on here that said silicon grease. Don't try forcing it, if you've rinsed with water it should have got any sand out, so get some silicon on it and try to wiggle it up and down and side to side.

I'll give silicone grease a try, sure i have some somewhere...

Problem with soaking overnight is i am not sure what's in the pocket, and it might not take well to a good soaking :S

white vinegar, and bicarbonate of soda ... Rub it in with an old tooth brush, and wiggle the zip about, it'll eventually come free

You haven't said what type of zip it is, or what it's attached to?

Tried hot water and a toothbrush?
    You love it

Pencil on the zip is a good idea - Used to be able to get Carbon Lube like a spray on powder. Dunno if that's still around but it does the trick.

fresh boiled water, the tip of my pocket knife and a bit of patient wiggling has never failed my yet on salt filled zips. not sure how well salt disolves in lube (of any sort ) would have thought that would have been more appropriate for a rusting zip?
