How big is your rear axle then? Must be huge! I have one of the eBay hinged ones and it fits over the rear axle on my big buggy.

I made mine using some metal tubing and a piece of rope. Get 2 pieces of equal length tube, pass the rope through the middle of them both, attach the ends to the footpegs and the other ends to the axle. Simples!

Axle on XXracer is 48mm. Is yours really bigger than that, as I have fitted the eBay one on to mine?

The eBay guy is a member on here too as I recall. He sells the Flexi headstock protector kits, tow ropes and makes up vinyl lettering too. Leigh Howden isn't it? I'm sure that if you gave him your axle measurements he would tell you if it would fit or not. His ones were the large clamp type with an axle that fitted into the rear buggy's headstock.

If the ebay ones are the ones I'm thinking of, google "doughty clamps". They do come in different sizes.

I've bought that tandem clamp from that guy Leigh. I just sent him an email with the mesurement of my axle and he said it was fine. You would have to have a pretty big axle for it not to work.

But if you buy the whole tandem kit, you also get a massive 12mm spacer to fit the front axle and fit inside the second clamp.

The advantage of replacing the front wheel with a rigid connection that does not touch the ground, is that you don't have the problem of kids not being able to properly steer the front wheel of the tandem buggy. They can just sit back and ride, with their feet on the pegs.

Here's something I made up yonks back but only ever used it a couple of times because nobody likes sitting behind me. I don't know why?.
Note that I have removed the front wheel which means passenger doesn't even have to steer.

Yeh! but don't you like the nice handle she has to hang on.

She only ever sat in the tandem once, which was bad for me as she was screaming her head off . I turned around to asked her not so nicely to be quiet and while I was admonishing her for her screaming antics, didn't realize that my Blade had risen up, turned and pulled my buggy skywards along with Tandem as well . Brig fell out the back and has been plotting ever since a cunning way to do me in so that it looks like an accident.
