Well, you know I imagined a man with your healthy obsession with power tools could do some whittling to get it the right shape

just looked at a tape measure to see what 140 x 42 would look like and it does seem mighty long and skinny, would dropping to 130 x 42 be bad plan for me as a sinking numpty??

    Hmmm

My 9 stone learnt on a CKB 146 / 44.5...it was great, early planing and all but just a tad too big after a few sessions So i moved onto a 129 / 39 Nobile 666...had some fun on a 122 as well

    Maybe 135/40?

PS ive been offered 210 all in for the phantom.... Do i except at that price

Let me know if you are heading to Hunny

Will keep an eye on the weather... but if the wind is between S and SW not worth going as Low tide is 08:30 on Saturday 30th Dec. and water will be up past the groynes well before Midday at Hunstonton Sailing Club

Old Hunstanton is better option but only SW to NE direction.
S to SW at Old Hun. is way to gusty as the wind comes of the cliff and goes off-shore.

Water temp is still OK for 5mm but it is less than 12ºC in the Wash

    42 isn't a narrow board
depends on your weight though I have tried a 666EXT 139 x 46 and that board is massive. Great for low wind but 75kg way to wide for a regular board. 135/140 x 40 is ideal size. My board is 138 x 35 and feel it is a bit narrow when the wind isn't blowing I could do with a slightly wider board for average wind days.

Rob, I am using an Airush Square2 at the mo and it is pretty huge, I think it is 155 x 45 with 5cm fins and 4cm on the edges. It's a big board but good for beginning.

Probably correct but those kind of flash moves are just random for me at the moment!! I wanted a board we could learn on and which would basically float

    Good luck with your ply-ing

Well it looks as if I will be if previous chat is anything to go by LOL

Think I have setted on a 140 x 45 with moderate progressive tip rocker, and probably 5 fins - 2 at each end on each side and 1 central hellside a-la-wakeboard of about 5cm tall each.

Hope you mean heelside - LOL

Mine has 50cm fins at the corners and 2 on the heelside edge around where your heels would be if that helps any.

yep same basic concept except that I cant be asked to make any more than I need to so 4 singles and 1 monster HELLSIDE LOL fin all 5cm tall but the big one will be place centrally between the heels and be about 20cm long.

Time to go and borrow father-in-laws belt sander.

Will probably get the Ply tomorrow, and laminate 2 x6.5mm birch ply giving me a total thickness of 13mm, and formed tip rocker, will probably use an old piece of kitchen worktop as my former.

Fins will be made from 12mm Birch ply. These will be recessed into 50% of the board thickness, glued and screwed into pockets on the underside of the deck.

Then varnish the lot in several coats of Yatch varnish

For straps I'm thinking either my DS straps or a set of Flexi straps I have never used, with a bit of camping mat as foot beds.

May also add some small strips of camping mat to the centre top deck of the board to aid with floatation.

Great plans of Mice and Men...... also known as Robs random concepts LOL
    Still Kite bike worked OK

Still you never know, may find a dirt cheapy on Ebay yet, there is one that is 179 x 46 but that one seems monster HUGE, but I suspect that it will go cheap!
