It's looking like I'm going to have to be very selective about the races I enter this year as there are too many for me to afford to go to them all.
Anyone going to all of them?

I filled in my calender today, some months there are events 4 weekends on the trot. One weekend has 3 different race events on at the same time! Luckily I can't possibly get to all them, unfortunately I think some favourites will have to fall by the wayside....
It is fairly likely that I will take part in 4 different series, possibly as many as 6, but there is only 1 for which I can attend every event.
i fancy having a go at most of them, just need to get this pka licence![]()
I'm hoping to go to all the S/C one's this yr... just for the standard class trophy hehehehehehe
I'm doing all of PKA and Eurocup and a couple of Supercup but can't afford to do them all.

The 4 PKA races, the 3 main supercup/freestyle rounds, the 24 hour, at least one Eurocup and as many WSYC races as possible. Rachel doesn't know this yet but...

I'll be doing as many as possible, PKA is a must, and I want to do as many Eurocups as I can, but money will dictate, and I'm pretty brassic at the moment.
I'll be doing as many SC races as I can, but the dates are clashing with other things at the moment, so I may have to miss two of the dates so far, possibly three.
The club races at Hoy were sweet this year, so I'll be doing all bar one of those if I can too.
Busy, busy, busy![]()

The WSYC Club racing that was proposed for 26/27 April was declined by the "committee" because they have a land yacht regatta that weekend - on the grounds that it caused to many problems last year (I have to admit I don't remember any such issues...)
So that's one less "race weekend", but it still looks like being a good sailing weekend....
Thanks for the most helpful tone of your comment
That date was not available by the time you made a start in selecting Club C8 Race Series Dates
Yes, there is a Sandyacht Regatta on that weekend
and while this does not preclude recreational buggying it is the view of the club committee that joint regatta events put too much strain on the infra-structure...[ facilities / vehicles / parking / storage ]
I trust all members can see our point of view.
I offered a number of alternative dates last night . . . which you chose to decline
Further more your proposed date in July originally clashed with the previously booked SuperCup Event at Hoylake..... luckily for you John Lewis recently asked us to review moving his date....so you got that weekend
All dates have now been set and can be seen in the calendar of the WYSC Yahoo Group

I agree there are a lot of races, but that is good isn't it as it gives you all the choice of what you want to do!
Each series has its own advantages, if you wish to be in the running to be in the nataional team or have dreams of doing so, then you do the PKA races. If you wish to race against the best that Europe has to offer then you do the Eurocups. If you want to be the best at your club then do the club races. If you wish to do some races in different locations then do the Super Cup.
I am biased and I will admit that! The Super Cup offers the ability to race at venues that some people will not be able to use without joining specific clubs or having speciifc insurance. It also gives you a different race, we have longer courses over longer times (1 hour enduro's) to me its all about offering choices and being open to all. But then I AM BIASED!!!
I think it is a good that you all have the choice, the races are spread out over the year giving you more choice. At the moment the SC teamis thinking about taking the first Ainsdale round out of our seires as we do think there are a lot.
I remember a few years ago when people complained about the lack of choice - we racers are a fickle bunch![]()

Not complaining, for a change. I will go to the races that fit in with the other things I am commited to and are at venues that I enjoy. I will not commit to one particular series as I am not that competitive and have no desire to win trophies or gain entry in the UK team. I would not mind if some thing was going on every weekend. I think it is great that all of the organising bodies seem to be co-operating over dates so there are as few clashes as possible.
Roll on 2008 English racing.
I think a lot of people know my views on this already, but I might as well chip in here. Its great that racing seems to be on the up, both in terms of the number of events and the number of participants. There's a very different vibe now and a lot of choice compared to when I started 2 years ago for sure! This is all good.
However! You can have too much of a good thing, and there is still only a small market to cater for. Some people only pick a few events, but if I understand correctly most people, and certainly the best pilots, want to enter a series which they can potentially complete. People also like to go to well attended events as they feel worth going to. Everyones only got so much time and money... and a round without the best pilots and low attendance isn't a round worth going to in my view.
So something needs to give if we want 2 successful national race series as well as all the club and european racing on offer.... Otherwise there is a danger that there will only be one national series really worth attending??
My thoughts anyway.
In my view the best pilots being there does not matter. Very low attendance might but it is the quality of organisation and the the social scene that I turn up for. Good racing does not need the best pilots only a course that is raceable with reasonably proficient pilots. And some pilots are not as good at socialising as they are racing.![]()
And some of us are not as good at racing as we are socialising...![]()
