    24 Hour Distance Record

    Just to confirm

I have now got definitive permission to run this at Hoylake On June 23rd/24th. Do need to check with council etc not a issue running overnight but event will definately take place.

Some basic details (subject to change)

Teams will consist of between 3 and 5 members (only teams of 3 will count official FISLY recognised record)

Object is to travel as far as possible in 24 hours

Each team will require at least 2 GPS to verify distance

24 hours will start at 10 am on the saturday (will delay up to 2 pm for bad weather/no wind at which point clock will start regaurdless)

Each team will be required to do marshalling at some point (if they can find some other idiot wiling to do this for them at 4 am in morning thats fine)

Cost per team will be £40 (plus 5 pounds per team member above 3 )

If you wish to enter a team please let me know ASAP as number of teams will be restricted.

This event is open to all

If any one is interested in sponsering this event please contact me

Book me down for one of those team's.
Will we be going round a course/laps or will this be distance measured by the two GPS units (lap counters checking GPS units when pilots change over) just wondered?

Anyone tried bugging in the dark, have you got any tips?

yes just use bike red lights on the back??? and may be store one just incase to light up your vision for tangles?

any way night flying is easy just do not use tinted goggles haha

and not sure about ozone team yet.. shall check with the oldies to see what they think.

Personally i would like it to be a course all 24 hrs.... but from what garry was thinking at pka its just a course through the night for safety and day time = go as fast as you can for most coverage

    Already thought of this

Just need to think of a suitable charity (preferably one local to the wirral)and get teams to raise sponsership

Already got 15 teams provisionally interested.

Once I know all the details ill start to take entrance money (probably in new year)

Can all teams so far email me garry.box@infor.com with a team name and contact email address as those teams will be given first options to enter.

Yeah I'm up for this. Maybe we can have a night time practice sometime before so we know the best way to do it?

I guess with the glow from Liverpool it won't ever really be that dark? Can't say I've ever really managed to get those kite lights to work. Might be good to start knicking some of those roadworks lights to use as markers??

think garrys on that already, i really think the only lights you need/want is a red light on back of buggy and orange lights at markers any more and you ruin your night vision

Yeah true, maybe some form of light on the front of the bug just to distinguish it head on too.

Maybe someone can lend / sponsor us some night vision glasses?!
