    Height restrictions at Wallop?

Is the usual 60 metre legal height limit applicable at Wallop? There are usually single-liners flying higher than this at events, so I was just wondering.

It's just that I've always wanted to fly a kite on obscenely long lines...like 100 metres, and Wallop would provide a possible opportunity. It's only reading just now about someone flying a 7.2 Blade on 160 metre lines that's made me think about it really. I've got enough line to fly my 3.3 Blade, in 2-line mode, on about 150 metre lines.

Doesn't CAA regs limit kite line length to 200ft / 60metres max. ?

yeah but we didnt get arrested with the 7.2 on 160m! most of the time it was kept low, crossing the window and trying to get a bit of power. i wouldnt bother trying with a 3.3. the weight of the lines really makes a difference when they are that long. the only way to compensate is to have a lighter breaking strain. your better to go with a bigger kite rather than playing with the strengths.

ive had a go with 50mtr lines on a 12mtr frenzy 04 and it was completely mental .the wind was about 3mph and it was still able to give us some nice floaty long jumps .

Yea but some kite festivals apply for CAA permission to fly higher. Dont know if that has happened for Wallop though
