21 February - Kiting event at West Sands, St. Andrews, Scotland
The SPKA Annual Buggy Race Series is back again, buggy racing is popular with many fliers young and old, male and female. SPKA racing is designed to challenge people and improve their skills and most of all to ensure everyone has a good time. For that reason at each race day there will be a fun introductory race for which the only requirement is valid third party insurance.
The next races of the series will be held at St. Andrews, one of Scotlands must visit beaches for kiting, with its own dedicated kite zone and relatively smooth offshore winds.
An introductory race will be held during the day for free, so if your interested let someone know at registration. If you get on well enough and are interested you can take the theory side of the pilots licence there and then and compete in the rest of the days races and the rest of the season. We recommend you take a look at the SPKA Buggy Licencing Page for more information.
At the SPKA we're always trying out new ideas, so this year there will also be an award after each race day for the highest placed pilot on 16" wheels (standard barrows or 16" wides) as we recognise that there is a greater challenge to getting round courses on smaller wheels.
This year there will also be a prize for the best newcomer at the end of the season - free entry into the 2010-2011 series. Open to anyone who competes in their first series race(s) this year.
Registration will be at 10am.
The cost for entry to the series races is £7.
