Wirral Sand Yacht Club OPEN Race meet (yes open to all)

    Important news date change

After discussions at last weekends Super cup with a large number of people saying they could not make the event (due to holidays) we have decided that our only sensible option is to move the event to the 24th and 25th of September.

To anyone who has registered and cant make the new date we are sorry but please let me know ASAP and your race fee will be returned ASAP

You can now register online for this event in Spetember

    http://www.wsyc.org.uk/wsyc_pages/wsyc_event_information.aspx

Come on folks you know you want to

We are specifically gearing this event to make it never raced before entrant friendly so come on give it a go

    Wirral Sand Yacht Club

    Annual Class 8 Regatta

    24th- 25th Sept 2005

Weather permitting this event will consist of six 30 Minutes races on Saturday with all pilots entering 3 of them (Exact way this will be done is to secret !!!).
Then based on their results of all competitors will race in either the A or B Final on Sunday of 90 Minutes.
The hope of running this format is to allow less experienced pilots to race at there own level and have chance of winning a race
Due to nature of event pilots must race on the Saturday to qualify for Sunday Races
Note all entrants must have BFSLYC (FED) Insurance which can be arranged at a cost of 10 Pounds for the weekend for anyone not having it.

    Cost to Enter

    WSYC Members 10 Pounds
    All others 15 Pounds
Late entry Fee (for entry after 14th August) additional 5 pounds

Please send Entrance Fee (Cheques made payable to Wirral Sand Yacht Club) and following details

    Just to clarify

I think that late entry fee should read £5 additional charge to above i.e. £15 WSYC and £20 other.

Race officials for the weekend will be Myself and GaRRy + other co-opted marshalls.

The WSYC for those that do not know is based at Hoylake on the Wirral peninsular and operates from arguably the best location in Europe for Class8/Parakarting boasting a non tidal 8 square miles of sand - futher details can be found on the WSYC website.

As with Supercup events at this venue spaces get snapped up pretty quickly so get those registrations in snappy so as not to be disappointed.

Its gonna be one of the not be missed racing events of the year - see you there.

    Looks good but....

I think I may struggle to find lifts as it's a bank holiday weekend, plus I now have the dates for another do I want to go to and they are the same (sailing on water)!!! The other do is all weekend including the Monday (which I don't actualkly get off) so I have a tough decision to make now

Hello Tuffty it appears that you have not posted on our forums for a few weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution to someones new purchase or just post away to the other members in the Bar Zone?

while getting a steady stream of interest in this event not getting as many entrants yet as I hoped for '(last minute rushes are good but hard to plan for). Apart from the obvious im on holiday/cant make it reason is there any other reason why people are reluctant to enter ? (Cant be cost as this is by far the cheapest open evnt that has been held this year). If you have a concern let us know and we will try and address it.

I am on holiday, but if I wasn't I would have three concerns.

    1. Will there be enough wind. I would wait and see the three day forecasts before comitting. (Still thinking of pulling out of the Supercup this weekend as winds look so light)

    2. It is also a Bank Holiday weekend, so traffic could be a consideration, certainly for me travelling 300 miles each way.

    3. May have pressure to spend some time with the familly.

Ok to clarify the site says 15 pounds as it only allows us to enter 1 price. (Blame the developer . Only joking Rob ). However if you are a member of WSYC you only need to send me a Tenner. I figured id rather return the odd fiver on the day than have to go around chasing those who paid to little.

Garry, I was going to come up for a blast on Friday, but I have just looked on the WSYC web site and Friday is not highlighted. Will the bank be clear or covered in H2O

Unless a big high comes in the bank will be wet Friday - Its also likely to be a bit damp on Saturday in places so I would advise wet gear of some type.
