    Nice one
Some good speeds being had now.

Think it may be time to apply some paramaters, say speed has to be over a set distance for example?

As I know some have achived high speeds for that split second, either at the start when diving the kite and get that sudden acclleration, from standing still to moving?
Or from, dipping the kite and edging down wind, so getting a spike in the speed reading, rather than a sustained speed?

I only know this as I have had it happen to me, and did not know untill I had down loaded sata to my laptop and could see route info and constant/peak speeds etc.

    So what are peoples thoughts?

@KiteCrazy, which beach did you do that on?

sounds good to me but i'm sure like most people who've recorded there speeds they've borrowed a gps hense not being able to look at the data on the comp after and not being able to see the peak and average speeds. i think its cool to have it fairly relaxed and keep it going as it is.

and nice going kitecrazy, you've re-set the bar for speeds on skate trucks, prepare to be beaten next time the winds a blowing and i'm on the beach again.

i think its an honesty thing any way. even gps pic's are not proof as you could have just driven down the road at 48mph to set a record.

mind nothing stopping you creating a new catergory. fastest average speed over 30 mins or something.

or what about longest distance...... highest average.

@Spooky what software do you use to look at your data. I've been usuing memory map but it often creates speed spikes itself when the GPS looses signal.

I recently downloade gpsu and that seems much better for looking at the data, but has a limited no. of track points.

    Am using a geko 201.

    Nice speeds by the way.

Just got a new GPS, Forerunner 301 an dit comes with Garmin Training Center, which dowload all the data when you connect it and shows average and peak speeds.
You can also click on a "route" and it shows what speed you were doing at taht point.

Basic stuff really, but just wondered what people thought?

Not a bad idea but it does require people to have their own GPS and download capability.
As Angoose says often people borrow them making this difficult / exclusive.

How do the other speed lists (Kiteboarding/snowkiting) verify data?

It is a bit of fun at the end of the day so perhaps trust is the way to stay.

Not to mention one of the most common kiting GPS's, the forerunner 101 doesn't have a computer download facility...

The only way to settle this one is to organise a speed run day with a speed gun. With enough interest it could be done.

Track logs are interesting tho, mine showed a speed of betweeen 1 and 15mph yesterday but it was up hill for a bout 1/2 a mile followed by a steady 15mph downhill and another 1/4 mile up hill No speed records but I was chuffed with it.

yeah, but what is the point in lying, by driving down the road, its pretty pointless.

and most of the time, people can vouch for that speed, like mine, quite a few were watching, and it was on another persons GPS
