its a retro flysurfer...wont be aywhere near as good as modern flysurfers in terms of depower, stability, predictableness etc etc etc etc...

look at spending £300 plus for a Psycho 3 10m, or 8m for landboarding, or a speed 2 10m/12m for up to 20mph...

well ive flown a Flysurfer Rookie, similar kite, simliar time period, and it was terrible....unstable, unpredictable turn speed and power spiked like a mad thing...
not worth it, youll just get annoyed from such a cheap kite to be honest....

    Bit harsh there Jonny.

The Cool was a much better kite than the Rookie. The Cool has good low end power for it's size, flys well unhooked and has good lift. Turning speed is as good as any similar sized kite from the same time.
The only thing I found was it was pretty unstable at the edge of the window, but that was flying inland.
I wouldn't mind flying one at the coast now to see how they compare in nice clean winds.
Sub £200 it's definately an option.

yeah i guess, Rookie was terrible thogh, even in clean winds...although it was a small kite so i guess unpredictable and power siking comes naturally to small kites

like you said under £200 its a good option, as long as the guy isnt going all out freestyle or anything stupid, just cruising the rookies and old flysurfers are actually very good, not a lot of lift, but very constant pull(in the bigger ones) and in clean wind theyre allright....

but in first post it mentioned wanting to freestyle, so im thinking old flysurfer = not good....tried jumping with the Rookie, downlooped while i was backwards and i ate floor hard...as did kite...thanks to its unpredictable turn speed...

The Rookie was replaced by the Cool, which was then replaced by the 2Cool.
I believe the kite in question is a 2008 2Cool.

Does anyone here think that Flysurfer would have been selling a 'duff' kite in 2008?

What size Rookie did you fly jonny? The 4m was actually a very good high wind kite. Yes, power was on-off, but the smaller ones were better than the big ones.

Older Flysurfers have plenty of lift. The Psycho2 and Speed have bucket loads.

I doubt you'll find much info about the Cool2 as the problems with the Rookie's and Cool's put a nail in the coffin for flysurfer open cell kites until the Outlaw.
It won't be a 'bad' kite, but if you don't get on with it, you might find it hard to sell on, so get it as cheap as you can.

Answer myself here (and agree with andrewjohn)!
The 2Cool does not have the Flysurfer Jetflaps! And they make a huge difference to the kite.
I certainly wouldn't buy it unless it was cheap!
