    Increase traffic

Hi Mr Admin, it's a bit quiet in this forum, is it possible you could send an email out to all members saying we've not seen you for a while, why not drop by and say hello?

Doing so is a tricky situation. It's borderline "spam" to some, and can get us in trouble with Canadian CASL laws.

Checking the sites stats doesn't give a full picture, as it doesn't account for Google bots and the like. Is it just a seasonal lull, or a bigger issue than that?

    Most likely a seasonal lull.
Some forums I joined used to send out reminders, but now I think about it I've not seen any for a while so I guess the law has changed on that.

Ya the password reset has had that unfortunate side effect. Everyone who had a out of date email wouldn't have gotten the email, which was unfortunate but we were on a timeline. If you know of anyone, please tell them to use the "Contact Us" form at the bottom of the page.

slide333, if you want some assistance regaining access to your original account, please send me a PM.

Unfortunately it is much more than thay, the forum has declined since the advent of Facebook, twitter et al! It would be a shame to lose the forum completely but it lost it's spark a few years ago and everyone seems to have gone elsewhere. I really don't know how it can be reignited.

Unfortunately, the majority of Blogs/forums etc. have seen a decline ever since outlets like FB/twitter and other social media avenues have opened their jaws.

Are there any ideas on how we can potentially grow the userbase?

The forum needs to offer something that FB can't. The only thing I can think of is an encyclopedia of all things kiting. There are a few stickys that kind of do this, and they get a lot of views. Some are a bit out of date though.
And would it be possible to let guests sign in with their FB identity?

It would be great if could figure out the secret, I'm sure you could make millions selling the idea to every other forum! FB has definately caught the moment, it's given people what they want, the ability to put all their chums in one place, they don't need a different forum for each of their interests, everyone is in one basket. It appeals to peoples' base instinct! ie being lazy!

Agreed. Having the all the info about kite's is a good idea but we need those who are in the know to bring that info here. Allowing registration through FB is something we could add. Might be better to lean into social media instead of trying to fight it. Think it's worth it to try?

Can't hurt to try the FB registration, it can't make things worse.
Then forum users can post on FB groups to let people know about it.

I'll put in a request. There is always the chance there is something not readily obvious that prevents these sort of additions, but I don't anticipate that being an issue

It was a cold night, well, it would be, it was winter.
Kevin (forumadmin) had been working hard into the night on case #2397454.
Kevin didn't anticipate that this would be any different from any of the other Kitecrowd cases that he'd worked on, changing a user-name, censoring bad language, just the usual menial stuff.
He thought to himself 'another 5 minutes on this and then I'll get back to browsing for dank memes and dwarf wrestling porn' ...

Feel free to continue the story

Try as he might, Kevin could not shake the feeling that there was more that he could do. Suddenly, the dwarfs antics no longer appealed to him. Tired references to Cake and cats and their love of cheeseburgers fell to the wayside. Always he found that his clicks would bring him back to kitecrowd.com, and the feeling that he had unfinished business there consumed his thoughts.

... how can I bring them back? thought Kevin. If I build it they will c ... NO! that's been done before, he shouted to himself.
Kevin had another long sip of his Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Trips to the fridge were tiresome, so Kevin poured it in a pint glass.
His mind drifted back to happier days long before case #2397454, gambolling on the beach wearing nothing but a mankini and a pair of crocs.
This wasn't getting him anywhere, then it dawned on him, he had a plan that would bring people back ...
