    imo

BOW DELTA for the first 3 months of learning or 30 hours

then.. there is no reason why anyone should not be able to handle a 5 line C kite

the only difference with these kites now is that when you let go of the bar they dont just fag out and drop you int he water there is always a bit of tug

No matter what anyone says 5TH line is the SAFEST most RELIABLE system to date and i wouldnt use anything else for what i use,
they dont do everything however, but for freestyle and freeride they offer a perfect blend of performance, saftey and most importantly, excitement

How is the bar pressure on the PD3 compared to Vegas, Torch etc.? Lower I hear?

For me bar pressure is just right. Not heavy for sure, but just enough to get a good feel of the kite without feeling uncomfortable when riding one handed etc.

Tom do you use 5th line on your fuels just out of interest ? The RPM is a four line system isn't it ? or can it be 5th lined ?

Also not that Ive used them but I don't like the look of mini 5th's

I am loving the high depower C's . I got a great session on the 2010 Blade primes last week where as before i preferred hybrids. The high depower Cs should have all the performance you need yet lots of depower giving you tons of confidence. Really good stuff and much more fun to ride.

Learn your trade first , and once you can use a bow/delta / hybrid then try ou the C's. I am clean out of hte 2010 primes (but more on the way) , and i also have a few ex demo 09 primes that i will be selling very soon.

the rpm is 4 line but the saftey runs onthe front line.

it works really well, but never as good as 5th imo, but of course the benfit is its one less line to worry about and less drag

i use all my fuels on 5th line. i was on 4 line at one point and loved it, although i did always worry about what would happen if the shit hit the fan. However i find ont he fuels the Produce alot more "sent" power witht he 5th line attached, it must be becasuse the LE is deforming a bit thats all

I'm now on a 'high depower' C 'type' kite and I love it, but in all seriousness Joe buy a 9/10m Delta (any fucking brand) for the summer to learn on the water, it won't hinder you in any way and the ease of use, range and relaunch will mean that you progress quicker not to mention have more fun - let the flaming begin
I really hate reading stuff like this...a modern high depower C is no more likely to kill you or hinder your learning then a delta or a bow!

    Just to clear this up..

Whilst I would recommend a Mr Fantastic 2 to a beginner due to it's upwind ability and super-easy relaunch, I see no reason why someone with previous kite experience could not start on a modern C such as the Primadonna.

These kites have plenty of depower and excellent safety systems. Other than perhaps the Hadlow Pro or a 4 line Fuel most 08-2010 kites are way more suitable for learning on than older tat bought on eBay and the likes.

i learnt on 06 Rhinos without any kiting experience, it does mean you can feel a bit out of control at first when you are trying to stall the kite and yeah probably get dragged down wind easier than my bow flying friends but i soon got used to it. I would say, at the risk of getting shot that it is obviously easier to turn the power off on the likes of a Bandit ar Waroo etc etc, which can mean its a little safer for a beginner if it goes wrong, but then a 5th line is the best safety in my opinion. No pimpin here, just my 2 pennies worth.

Take yer time Joe and see if you can scrounge some flying time from some of the lads at the beach to build up a picture of what's good and bad about some of the new kit.

Very few bad kites these days I suppose but they all have their quirks or in some cases annoying design features.
