    high depower Cs

Gonna start kitesurfing this summer and quite like the sound of these kind of kites, north vegas ,LF hi fi comp JN pd2 etc. Was just wondering what sizes would be good (I'm roughly 60kg but still growing). Obviously I'm going to try and get a go on some different kites when I start but would just like some basic info at the moment. Also what years for the north and LF as I won't be able to buy new.Cheers Joe

or you could try a 9m one kite quiver (works for some, but means there might be a few days where you cant go out)

try ringing round a few shops to see if they are selling 09 gear cheap before the 2010 stuff comes in

I have a North Vegas 07 10m. That has awesome depower. I was out on it today on my landboard. I weigh about 8stone (i don't like pies ) Wind was roughly 25 gusting 30, I was very powered. The bar throw is probably about 40cm and with the bar out that gave me a good instant decrease in power. The depower strap decreased it even more and fully depowered completely the kite still flew well.

You can pick an 07 10 up for quite cheap. Theres one on here selling for £150. I got mine for £230 rtf.

no seriouslty i weigh the same as you and fine the 10 and 12 is a ncie combo but im topping out in the 30's on the 10m, would consider getting a 7 as a high wind option but the 12 is good in the lower winds as its still got a bit of speed and you can work it to get more power nicely.

I definatly wouldnt go bigger than i 12 in any kite now as there isnt much fun to be had when the winds that low.
My ambition is to live for ever!
    So far, so good!

If you do end up looking at Primadonnas, the PD3 is much better than the 2 in the larger sizes - much more bottom end.

And don't bother asking if I have any 9m PD2s. I must get asked every week.. they were good but rarely come up used.

I went back on to Cs last year after a couple of years on bows and don't regret it whatsoever. I think most modern Cs give excellent de-power but my choice was the Blade Prime, hell it even launches like a hybrid. Biggest I have is 11m, I reckon you could get away with 11 and 7 but I like to get the sweet spot and went for the 9 as well which was do-able at the Blade prices.

Agree wih Andy-j, would probably just get the 9m to start if i were you.

The Hifi is awesome, the vegas is also an excellent kite, not ridden the JN but that is also suppossed to be very good also.

See if you can get a demo, i'm sure most shops will help you out with some demo kit

Okay Joe is going to start kitesurfing this summer so getting demo kit or a full on C (even with land experience) is proabably just nonsense! This forum is so full of pimps and useless pish advice that it is becoming more and more like the UK version of kookforum?

I'm now on a 'high depower' C 'type' kite and I love it, but in all seriousness Joe buy a 9/10m Delta (any fucking brand) for the summer to learn on the water, it won't hinder you in any way and the ease of use, range and relaunch will mean that you progress quicker not to mention have more fun - let the flaming begin

    Good advice.....

But some of us learned on "non de-powering C's".....ah the good old days..

Seriously dude new to the sport - even if u are crossing over from land lubbing..

Get a delta - there arent any bad 1's

I really don't see any need to fly a delta, new c kites have more than enough depower while still being awesome fun when you get better. And the guy is flying arcs now so he is used to not having mega amounts of depower. He's obviously not a total beginner and not everyone likes deltas. The closest feel to an arc in lei form is definitely c kites, so leave the guy alone with your other suggestions and answer the questions he asked.

9m/10m for a one kite quiver, north and liquid force anything 08 onwards, but lf 09's are awesome if you can afford one second hand

This really isn't true, of course if he prefers a delta over a hi-depower c that's fine, but plenty of people including myself learnt to kitesurf with Cs or hybrids and modern technology is good enough that they are perfectly good kites for learning especially if you come with prior experience of landboarding.

Your venoms would be fine tbh. Relaunch might take a bit of practice, but it's quite hard to crash an arc.

I'm going to use my venoms to begin with to get the basics and then once io feel happy riding along go for some LEIs to progress with.

Most of the modern Cs (primadonna, torch, vegas, hifi comp etc.) are pretty easy going. The one thing that may hinder a relative beginner is their lack of upwind ability compared to a delta/bow/hybrid.

Still reckon the good old 5th line is the safest system out there though.
