    Regional Splitting

    OK,

We are toying with the idea of splitting/organising this section.

How is best to do it, sections by county, or by rough geographic area?

Let us know what you think.

County is too low a level. My 'local' flying spots are in Wirral (Hoylake), Flintshire, Denbighshire, Gwynedd (all for NWales mainland flying including BRS) and Anglesey. The current North Wales Thread works perfectly for this.

Why........it is already done by local flyers promoting their flying sites. If you dont know where a place is.....GOOGLE it!

Do not create segregation within the community!

In fact we have a lot of messages saying where are flyingsites in xyz.

People might not know that Sutton Parknis west mids etc.

It's not segregation, it's organising to make the life of others easier.

A hierarchy would work well but you could progress to this over time. My suggestion would be to use the same area designations as the Met Office weather maps for sub-forums, and have site threads within each of these (though you could probably rename or dispense with a few and would need to add Eire and I would suggest Northern France for us regulars):

Edit: When I visited cornwall recently it would have been great to have been able to click on South West England and find all of the site threads that wer on here, but because I don't know the area to well and many of the threads were buried because nobody had posted for a few weeks, it was not possible.

In my view this would be a very useful arrangement.

If you want to see where the areas are, click on those that I have added weather / wind links to. No confusion then about what is in a particular area.

Steve, totally agree and that's what I'm aiming for.

The times when people want to know what's in an area, there's nothing wrong with making it a bit easier.

All ideas are open folks, an open roadmap of changes for the better will be coming.

Martin - the fact is, users are finding it hard (my inbox shows it), the threads where people say are there any flying sites in X show it.
