    Snowkiting ski season

    Hi,
Am planning on taking a gap year next year and am going to do a ski season, but haven't decided on a place yet.
I'd like to get into snowkiting a bit whilst there so does anyone know of some big ski resorts in Europe where you're able to snowkite too. Went to Tignes this year so looking for a bit of a change...apart from that anywhere in Europe.
Was looking a Val Thorens but can't find any details of snowkiting there.

    Any ideas??
    Cheers,
    Paul

Will you be working or have access to a car?

Obvious places that come to mind

La Rosiere/ La Thuile (see FlyMountains - The spot : Petit Saint Bernard pass)
Serre Chevalier/Les Deux Alpes (You'd need a car or have to hitch up to the col Lautaret)

Most other places I can think of would definitely need a car to get the decent kite spots. Not much in Val Thorens for Kiting.

I'd go Serre Che for sure - the snowboarding is epic if there's no wind or flat light.

I also heard that it is great there and I am planning to go there next winter too. Some friends of mine have been there last winter and they really liked it. They also told me that it is great for beginners there.

Scandinavia for me all the way .... (and it's Europe ) Skidresor till Sälen, Åre, Vemdalen, Hemsedal och Trysil presents some of the bigger ones
the further north you are prepared to go the longer the season - or even migrate with the snow line since temperature and daylight hours will have an influence as well especially through the darker winter weeks

many places are listed on here already
Sweden - Hemsedal, Vemdalen, Åre, frozen lakes, frozen seas, and the scenery is AWESOMEas well
Norway - Geilo, Haugostol evenTrysil further north has a good kite area on the mountain
even Finland has snowkite !!! admittedly it's mainly lakes ands Glaciers so snowboard would be pretty useless

just google snowkite Sweden/Norway/Finlandand yoyu should hit all the big websites and publicity
I think you will get a Full on experience if you were to pick Scandinavia

of course I'm biased but I've been coming here for the last 8- 10 years for snow and finally moved here last year

We have still got snow today in Stockholm although it is melting rapidly - but it's been the best sason for snow for the last 10 years at least (best since I started coming)

Daylight hours also has an influence now, since it is more daylight the further north you go. More north = more kiting hours. Soon we'll be snowkiting 24h/day, in midnight sun

^^^^ that was kind of my point^^^^^

in the middle of winter there is next to no daylight and the temp this year was almost -50C

come the spring equinox and the daylight hours summer saving thing (BST hour change this weekend) and the mostly night rapidly turn around into 14 hour days or more with decent snow and pleasant temps around -5C I think they said this morning.... OH and it's usually sunny as well so don't forget sunblock
