    Automatic Stunt Kite Reels

    Hi all!!

I'm new to this forum and firstly I would like to say HI!! to everyone! I'm a university student and I am currently working on an automatic stunt-kite reel project. The aim is to make an automatic reel that enables kite flyers to fly stunt kite at different lengths without having to change the whole set of lines instead of using a reel.

We have a few questions and would like you, the experienced kite flyers to take part in a survey, and it would also be great, if you guys can give us your valuable thoughts on the reel!

    Survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=308493224176
    Vyew room: http://vyew.com/room/585464

The Vyew room is a place where anyone can go and write/draw anything they want. I have opened up this room for everyone to share their thoughts there!!

I hope you will like our ideas and THANKS VERY MUCH!!

Take a look at the videos of ANdy here http://www.andywardley.com/kites/movies/index.html
It's doubtfull that a reel would cause anything other than great consternation for a stunt klite flier.

A couple of seconds is all it needs to change lines should you need different lengths or strengths/weights.
If you are what you eat, I could be you by the morning!!

The kiddy kites tend to come with a winder, or reel. However it is difficult to get the lines to be exactly the same length...and also if flying on a reel, I would imagine that you would let the reel spin in your hand to unwind, then when winding back up you would probably wind the line round and round with one hand, instead of spinning the reel the other way. This will make the individual lines twist. However, if you can do an automatic winding reel for single line flyers that winds up as well, I think they will be well chuffed!

I agree with desciple on the dual line trick kites.

as for single lne kites...it has been done before. excuse the pun but "it never really took off"

GoFlyAKite did one that was like a fishing rod (used on small single line kids kites) and also another type which was basicly like the extendable dog leads that you can buy that recoil when you disingage the locking mechanism.
