    Controlling my Rage

This is my first post...so be gentle. A few times, especially this afternoon, my Rage 4.7 fly's to the "park" position then keeps going until it settles behind me. My elbows at this point are about level with my ears. This also makes it difficult for me to get into my buggy with confidence. Any idea's?...should I be looking to attach the lines to another knot setting (at the moment the brake and steer are both on the knots closest to the fly line loop...any help would be a help. Thanks in aticipation.

You need to put a bit of brake on to stop it overflying you. Might not need to adjust your knots though, might just need a bit of input.

Does it turn and land ok?

I always have the Brakes on the third knot i find it handles best on it. But its down to personal choice , just apply some brake and make tiny movements on the kite to keep it in the zenith if its gusty you will find the kite will over fly alot more.

I think it has something to do with the kites angle of attack (as a result of the "less lift" thing) it is not focussed on climbing so it doesnt try and "climb out" at the zenith (I hope that sort of makes sense) I have once even turned around into the wind to fly it back down into the down wind side of things (which is weird, you would have expected it to fold?).... Anyway you have to apply brakes to slow it down / stop it at the zenith sometimes (general issue - not you)

What sort of winds are you flying in...sounds like you just need a bit more wind?

    Annaski,

Hi, thanks for the reply. Yes, the kite turns, brakes and lands and does what it's suppose to (i'm very happy with it)...it was just this over flying issue. It was all a bit un-nerving trying to sit in the buggy with the kite behind me knowing that when it did catch the window my arms were going to be snapped forwards and sidewards...!!!

    Jonno,

Hi. Yes, it was a gusty day. One minute a gentle breeze, the next very strong..wind seemed to be changing direction all the time as well. Reading the replies it seems as though the kite is acting normally, it's the operator that needs more practice. Thanks.

I had the same problem with my Rage 4.7 at first - needed a little adjustment to the position of the knots and the different wind ranges will effect it slightly. Even my 3.5 was trying to over fly me in the gusts on Friday to which I have perfect control nearly everytime I use it. I just moved it in one knot to tighten the brake lines and helped alot - didn't have to keep braking it to keep it at the zenith! May affect it's angle as the others say if sitting low down in a buggy as oppose to just flying standing up.

Have you tried taking a deep breathe and counting to 10?

Sorry, I just couldn't resist that one!
