KIte Line Problems, Questionnaire to the solution...

    Final Year Product Design Project…
Hello, my name is Chris, I am currently studying at university doing my final year in BSc (Hons) Product Design, for my final major project I have decided to look at the way you store and wind-up you’re kiting lines, for this I’m looking at a system that incorporates a device similar to a fishing reel, that will incase multiple lines and to help speed up the process of setting up and packing away, and to prevent those little tangles that can end up in tears. I would appreciate any time that you are able to give in completing the following questionnaire; this is an open questionnaire so please feel free to add any comments while you’re filling it in, and any useful information that might be relevant would also be appreciated, thank you for your time and cooperation.
Starting a new sport you encounter a number of problems while learning, mainly yourself being on a huge learning curve and something like getting tangled lines can be a problem and could cause people to get frustrated and lack the attention that they once hoped to give to the sport.
Like my self and many others, before and after using your kite you need to unwind and connect all your lines being 2, 4 or 5 which at the start you are most likely to do each line individually and then progress to winding 2 lines together, until settling into a method that best suits you.
The current methods out there today are pretty basic and leave plenty of scope for a device that winds the lines quickly and efficiently as supposed to conventional methods as well as it being able to gather more than one line at a time. And then to be stored along with your other kiting gear and kite.

    Kiting for 4 years
    Own 4 kites
Each kite has it's own set of lines
Prefer to wind around handles or bar (2 of my 4 kites are depowerables)
Fly on average 2x a month
99% of time I fly on a beach
Takes about 90 secs to wind lines
Takes about 90 secs to unwind lines
As a beginner, I was shown the figure-of-8 wind on handles and have always used that method. Never had any problems.
Tangled lines? Yup.. but only when someone else has packed away my kite and lines!
Never have the odd day when winding/unwinding causes tangles.

    Good luck.
